Oranyan formed during May of 1998 in a downtown Los Angeles rehearsal studio. Their sound is similar to (but should not be compared to) the hard pounding guitars and bass of Korn, mixed with D'Angelo's cool sexy grooves and Lenny Kravitz on vocals. It's really something you have to experience for yourself. Oranyan uses these different styles to push, pull and caress the listener in different directions. Oran Coltrane, son of legendary jazz great John Coltrane, plays a screaming 7-string guitar, sings lead vocals and writes all of the material. It's a sound he likes to call "SLO-PUNK".
